I’ve upgraded numerous plugins recently and not had an issue. However, this morning I was attempting to upgrade cforms and a few of Lester Chan’s plugins and they failed.
Unfortunately I also discovered that when the automatic plugin upgrade fails, it removes the plugin completely from the list of available plugins….and also deletes the directory. [...]

If you haven’t found out by now, WordPress 2.5 has been released.  It includes a bunch of new stuff in the admin area including, automatic upgrades for plugins, media gallery, upload music, pics, and video, and tons of other changes.  You can read more about the features in WordPress 2.5 here.
