Here are a couple of blog posts that give some great information regarding making your WordPress blog theme more SEO friendly. There are a bunch of good tips and I recommend that you take advantage of them.
The first, How To SEO Your WordPress Theme, was written by Courtney Tuttle, of Court’s Internet Marketing School, as a guest post on John Chow’s blog.
The second, 5 Ways To SEO Your WordPress Blog, was written by Honest Ed.
Both have good information, though some of it is repeated.
And if you’re interested in looking at another way to remove duplicate content from your WordPress site, then take a look at How To Eliminate Duplicate Content in WordPress Up To 99% for a detailed tutorial.

I’ve just finished working on this theme, “Dark Matter”, for my wife’s blog, and so I’m testing it here prior to uploading it to her site. If someone who owns a Mac and/or uses a browser other than Firefox and IE7 could tell me how it looks, I’d appreciate it.
I’m not a fan of dark themes (my wife is), but I think it looks ok. What do you think?
*UPDATE*
Forgot to mention, for her site, the link color is actually white instead of the dark orange, since she hated the orange.

<begin rant>
There are times when I’m designing a theme that I just want to beat Internet Explorer to death with a sledge hammer.
For those of you who are still using Internet Explorer, download Firefox and see what the web is really supposed to look like.

Roy Tanck has created one of the coolest plugins for WordPress 2.3+ that I’ve seen. WP Cumulus creates a flash based revolving tag cloud that has to be seen to be appreciated. The plugin also gives you the option to change color, background, width, and height to fit your blog.
Besides, it’s just plain cool to have a moving tag cloud.
You can see it here or on his blog.

Ian Stewart over at ThemeShaper is giving away 7 premium iThemes WordPress themes to the winner of their default theme contest. It’s a great idea to help come up with a new default theme, and I applaud his efforts.
I made a comment on the post that, after further reflection, I’d like to expand on here.
It is my opinion that the new default theme would need to embrace the newbies and intermediate users who are looking at WordPress as not only a blogging platform and CMS, but also as an outlet for their creativity and passion.
The question is: “How can we achieve that?”

Igor from Color Light Studio has created a great plugin which he calls Author Exposed. From his site:
This plugin does the same thing as the_author() tag only this time it’s linked to hidden layer (div). By clicking on the author link the layer pop’s up with author info gathered from the profile page, plus gravatar photo, if author email is assigned with one.
I can see many uses for this plugin, especially for business related sites, ie: virtual business card. To test the plugin, go to his site and click on his name under the post title. Great job Igor!

Since I couldn’t think of a better name, here’s the Black & Red Theme that was created during the tutorial on Creating Your Own WordPress Theme. There are no restrictions on usage since it’s released under the GPL, but I would appreciate you keeping the link in the footer. Other than that, I hope it helps you to create your own themes.
Download the Black & Red Theme
*UPDATE*
I updated the file to reflect the changes that I’ve made on the main index page for the famfamfam silk icons and how pages are displayed. Also, for those of you who don’t like red (the red was making my eyes bleed
) there is now a blue option.
Download the Black & Blue Theme
*UPDATE AGAIN*
Updated both files to remove the double Tags on single.php.
